Fire crews and police attend deliberate fire in wooded area

POLICE were called out following reports of a large number of young people in attendance following a deliberate fire in a wooded area at Mary Ann Meadows yesterday evening.

Shortly before 7 pm one fire engine from Warrington was called to reports of a fire in the wooded area at Mary Ann Meadows.

The crew used a water backpack and buckets of water to put out the fire. Police also attended the incident due to a large number of young people in attendance and the deliberate nature of the fire.

Earlier in the day, shortly after 1 pm one crew from Birchwood was called out to reports of a fire on Somerset Way, Woolston
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to dampen down a small fire involving tyres and other waste.
