Residents see the funny side as bus shelter renamed “Lump Brook Bridge!”

THE ongoing bus shelter replacement programme taking place across Warrington has caused much humour and laughter at Appleton, where Lumb Brook Bridge has been renamed “Lump Brook Bridge.”

The typo is causing much humour on social media and one wonders if the work was carried out last week on April 1st – All Fools Day!
Some residents are calling for the unfortunate typo to remain – to help lift spirits.

One person posted on social media: “.. if it does get removed, how about putting it on the wall next to the stop with a date stamp? We need to laugh and smile …. Imagine people reading that wall in 30+ years and smiling at the error? ….. It’s a very short life, we need to smile more!!!!
Much love this Easter weekend, whatever religion or faith. Hope you all live to your fullest.
It’s understood a similar typo has appeared down the road at Lymm where Heatley Mere is now Heathley Mere.

It follows residents taking to social media complaining about bus shelters around the town disappearing without warning.
Last September when Warrington Worldwide investigated why bus stops were disappearing across the town, a Warrington Borough Council spokesperson stated: “Over 20 years ago, ClearChannel (CCUK) installed in excess of 230 bus shelters across the Borough as part of a commercial agreement with us. That agreement ended earlier this year. To date, CCUK have removed 28 of these bus shelters throughout the Borough, under the terms of the agreement that we had with them. The vast majority of those that have been removed and those that remain are due to be replaced with new shelters under the agreement signed with the incoming supplier.
“A small proportion of the original shelters are not going to be replaced as they are either no longer on a bus route or their amenity value is otherwise low.”

Mystery of disappearing bus shelters resolved!
