Council confirm up to eight weeks of road closures scheduled for A56 at Thelwall

HIGHWAY planners have confirmed up to eight weeks of road closures on the A56 at Thelwall, Warrington, next month (April) for carriageway resurfacing.

The closures which are due to start on April 17, will take place in the evenings between 7pm and 1am to minimise traffic disruption.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows: Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: A56 Stockport Road from its junction with Stanton Road to its junction with Lymm Road; From its junction with A56 Stockport Road for 50 metres along the following lengths of road: All Saints Drive; Halfacre Lane; Bell Lane; Deans Lane; Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (B5158 Cherry Lane and Elm Tree Road, Lymm) (7.5 Tonne Weight Limit, Except for Access) Consolidation Order 2016 in its entirety.
The Order will be effective from 17th April 2023 for 8 weeks, between 7pm and 1am, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Camsley Lane, Booths Hill Road, Elm Tree Road, Cherry Lane, Cliff Lane, Knutsford Road and vice versa. The restrictions are required for carriageway resurfacing.
