Vehicle fire causes delays on M6 at Woolston

THERE were delays on the M6 at the Woolston interchange this morning due to a vehicle fire believed to have been started by an engine fault.

Two of four lanes were closed as firefighters from Lymm dealt with the incident. All lanes have since reopened.

The incident took place shortly after 8 am on the M6 South bound J21 to J20 involving a car well alight. The fire is believed to have been started by an engine fault. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Crews dampened down the vehicle and ensure it was safe.

Meanwhile in another incident last night shortly before 10 pm one crew from Warrington attended a road traffic collision at Burtonwood, involving recovering a car from a field
All persons were accounted for.
