Latchford Albion fall to heavy home defeat

A POOR second half showing, saw Latchford Albion fall to a heavy home defeat at the hands of Shevington Sharks in their NWML Premier Division clash.
The opening exchanges showed no signs as to what was unfold as the first 30 minutes were a close affair, with a converted try by the visitors being the only score registered.
Two tries in the last seven minutes of the half, saw the visitors take control, and at half time they held a 0 -16 lead.
Any chance of a potential Albion comeback was quickly extinguished with an early second half Shevington score, which then saw the visitors put Latchford to the sword as they racked up the points to inflict a heavy defeat.
Albion’s consolation came from debutant Josh Barnard, who scored a fine solo try weaving his way to the try line, Rob Marsh converting.
Despite the 3-50 scoreline coach Martyn Ellis (pictured) remained optimistic.
He said: “Sometimes in rugby you just have to take the rough with the smooth. We can’t let a poor forty minutes ruin what we are trying to put into place at the club. We had four under 18’s stepping up to play today, three on debut. Despite what happened, they did not look out of place and held their own.
“Dave Manfredi and Sean Bond, who are coaching them in both under 18’s and Open age have done a great job and I am looking forward to seeing their continued development.”
Albion make the trip to Haresfinch this Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways.
