LOCAL bus company Warrington’s Own Buses has launched a customer survey on the back of the success of the £2 bus fares scheme which has seen passenger numbers increase.

Since January, with Government Funding as part of the Help for Households Scheme, the bus company has been participating in the £2 flat fare scheme – which means customers only pay £2 a journey around town.

More than 130 bus operators across England signed up to cap single bus fares at £2, which started on January 1st this year for an initial period of 3 months and has recently been extended until June 30, 2023, thanks to up to £75 million in government funding.
So far, in Warrington, the bus company has seen that the number of people travelling with them is already higher than they would normally see at this time of year.

Ben Wakerley, Managing Director said: “Our flat fare has given us an opportunity, with council and government support, to give the people of Warrington a much-needed financial boost, in a tough financial climate.
“We have already reduced bus fares, and reintroduced Sunday evening routes and as we prepare plans to continue to deliver more improvements for people through more connections, keeping the cheaper fares going after the scheme ends and new buses, we want to hear from our communities on what they need too.”

Warrington’s Own Buses have created a short customer survey to get feedback on how this is helping our community and help to create our plans for Spring and Summer for your local buses. You can check it out here https://tinyurl.com/yc6b56dx
