UP to 20 weeks of road closures have been confirmed in Warrington from next Monday (March 27) to allow Scottish Power to install part of its Green Recovery Project to connect renewable energy.
The temporary road closures will be in the Omega Boulevard, Skyline Drive area of Omega at Great Sankey.
Warrington Borough Council has made an order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving as follows: Omega Boulevard (northbound traffic) from its junction with Watergrove Crescent to its junction with Orion Boulevard; Skyline Drive (northbound traffic) from its junction with Orion Boulevard to its junction with Catalina Approach.
The Order will be effective from 27th March 2023 for a period of 20 weeks, as and when signed on site. The works will be implemented in phases as follows: Phase 1: Omega Boulevard; Phase 2: Skyline Drive. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows; Omega Boulevard (northbound traffic) via Lingley Green Avenue, Whittle Avenue, Burtonwood Road and Skyline Drive; Skyline Drive (northbound traffic) via Omega Boulevard, Lingley Green Avenue, Whittle Avenue, Burtonwood Road and Skyline Drive.
The restrictions are required to allow Scottish Power to carry out mains installation works as part of the Green Recovery project.
This forms the basis for preparing the electricity network to connect renewable energy and the electrification of transport and heat.
