PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have turned down an application to change the use of a former Green Belt farm building from offices to six apartments.

Warrington Borough Council planners say the proposed development of The Mews, Burley Heyes Estate, Arley Road, Appleton could result in the occupants of the apartments being affected by unacceptable levels of noise from adjoining commercial and industrial activities.
In addition, the development includes area of land not within the curtilage of the building and the areas of land identified for parking are also outside the curtilage could not provide safe and adequate parking provision.
The application submitted to planners stated that the building – originally a farm building but converted for office use – had been vacant since 2019.
It was capable of being converted into six, two-bedroomed apartments with a minimal amount of alteration to the building. Existing hardstanding could be used for parking
An existing courtyard area would be redesigned to provide amenity space for the new building.
