ALL lanes of the M56 at Stretton are now open after a serious road traffic collision, involving a car and a line-painting truck, resulted in lengthy traffic delays in and around the Warrington area this afternoon.
Three fire crews attended the scene of the collision on the M56 westbound Junction 9, at around 3.15 pm.
Firefighters treated two casualties injured in the collision and fended off traffic until the lanes are closed.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 3.15pm this afternoon, March 14, police were called to a two-vehicle collision on the M56 westbound between junctions 9 and 10.
“The collision involved a car and a line painting truck. Officers remain at the scene.
“The two occupants of the car are being assessed.”
All lanes have now opened but delays of around 30 minutes remain following queuing traffic in both directions
