WITH a major change in the weather underway with cold air moving in from the north, bringing snow, ice and low temperatures for many – snow is being forecast for Warrington later this week.
The Met Office has issued warnings for snow and ice with the initial focus of the most impactful snow in northeastern areas of the UK, as well as some Northern Ireland and southern and central areas of England and Wales.
Snow is forecast to arrive in Warrington early on Thursday morning, but is only expected to be light, turning to rain later in the day.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Dan Suri said: “Snow, ice and low temperatures are the main themes of this week’s forecast, as the UK comes under the influence of an arctic maritime airmass as cold air moves in from the north.
“Snow is already falling in parts of the north where some travel disruption likely, as well as a chance of some rural communities being cut off.
Forecast for Warrington:
Tuesday:
After a frosty start, a bright day with plenty of sunshine though remaining chilly. Breezy near to the coast, and a chance of the odd snow shower developing here too. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Mostly dry with some sunshine on Wednesday, after a frosty start. Cloudier and breezier thereafter perhaps with a chance of some rain or disruptive snow. Gradually turning less cold.
Weather warnings are in place for snow & ice this week, with the risk mostly in the south on Wednesday & further north towards the end of the week. pic.twitter.com/5im3JIxyZa
