Housing development planned for vacant office site

PLANS for a development of 10 houses on the site of a vacant office building at Grappenhall will come before Warrington’s development management committee tomorrow (Thursday).

The scheme involves the former Cruden Construction offices on Knutsford Road and officers are recommending it be approved.

But Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council has objected, on the grounds the site has a dangerous access onto Knutsford Road.
The 10 houses will include a number of affordable homes if the scheme goes ahead.

Developers say the scheme will be designed to improve the appearance of the site, and will result in a high-quality residential development respecting the existing character of the area.
There will be changes to the site access, with the existing two accesses reduced to one.
Planning officers say although the scheme will have a greater impact on the Green Belt than the existing office building, it will have an enhanced appearance in keeping with the immediate area.
