Gardening Society set to meet with Spring in the air

AS Spring slowly but surely approaches Penketh and Sankey Gardening Society’s March meeting, tomorrow, Thursday, will be a chance to learn about an ever-popular plant.

Robert Barlow will be giving a talk on everything hostas and will have samples of the plants to pass around and for sale at the end of his talk.

Chair of the Gardening Society, Roy Smith, said, “Most of us have this versatile plant in our gardens. I can’t wait to hear what Robert has to say, including descriptions of varieties of hosta that will be new to a lot of us.”

The meeting is this Thursday, 2nd March at the Olive Tree, Chapel Road, Penketh WA5 2NB starting at 7 p.m.

Admission is £2 for members and £4 for non-members of the Gardening Society (pay at the door), including tea/coffee and biscuits. Membership of the Society costs £15 for a year. The free seed swap, with any voluntary donations going to the New Routes gardening charity, will be the last of the year. All are welcome.
