Man arrested following CCTV appeal after 11-year-old boy robbed of mobile phone

UPDATED: A 27-year-old man has been arrested by police following an incident at Bewsey involving an 11-year-old boy being allegedly grabbed and having his mobile phone stolen.

The man, who is from the local area, was arrested on Sunday 26 February after he presented himself at a local police station after police launched a CCTV appeal.

He has since been released on conditional bail.
It followed police receiving a report of an incident at the junction of Troutbeck Avenue and Norreys Avenue at 3.10pm on Wednesday, February 22,

Officers swiftly attended the scene and discovered that a man had allegedly grabbed an 11-year-old boy around 10 minutes earlier.
The boy managed to fight off the man, who ran away with the boy’s mobile phone along Norreys Avenue towards Lilford Avenue. Thankfully the boy only sustained minor injury.
