POLICE and parking wardens have been kept busy today, Sunday, clamping down on “horrendous” parking issues caused by the weekly Winwick Car Boot sale.

Local officers issued at least 10 parking fines and more than 20 advisory notices before council parking wardens arrived at the scene to carry on issuing more notices.

Posting about the issues on social media police said: “It is not acceptable to block drives or park on roundabouts or remove barriers or abuse staff trying to do a job at B&Q even if you if do have a blue badge.”

Local residents described the ongoing parking issues as “horrendous.”

One resident posted on social media: “Licence to operate needs to be taken off that car boot if it cannot control its parking.
“It’s a danger and a menace. Perhaps the council can be contacted by the police to look into this and also issue fines for all the litter dropped every Sunday and Wednesday.”
