WARRINGTON North MP Charlotte Nichols has reflected on the anniversary of the invasion of the Ukraine (Feb 24) and the “excellent work” taking place at the Ukrainian Family Hub in Culcheth.

Earlier this week Labour MPs, including Charlotte, met Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK Vadym Prystaiko.
During the meeting, Labour Leader Keir Starmer, reaffirmed Labour’s commitment to Ukraine’s freedom, liberty and victory.
The news follows his recent visit to Kyiv where he met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky. During his visit, the Labour leader vowed unwavering support for Ukraine, discussed military support, and the need to prosecute Russia’s leaders for war crimes.
Warrington has become home to many Ukrainian families over the past year, with Warrington families offering spare rooms in their homes to host the Guests. In response to the conflict The Ukraine Family Hub, based in Culcheth, was set up and has provided a range of additional support and services to Warrington’s newest residents.

Ms Nichols said: “Many of Warrington’s newest arrivals will be reflecting as we approach the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“The horrific war has caused untold hurt to millions of people. We must ensure those who are responsible are held to account.
“Labour has committed our unwavering support to Ukraine’s freedom and liberty.
“On Monday night I met Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UK, I told him about the excellent work taking place at the Ukrainian Family Hub in Culcheth.
“I’m thankful for all the support my constituents in Warrington North have offered to the guests arriving in our town.
“The hard work of people like Kate McCarthy-Booth and Marie Segar from the Ukrainian Family Hub means families torn apart by war have the opportunity to learn English, share their culture and receive the help they need to adjust to living in the UK.
“As always, any of my constituents affected by the war in Ukraine can get in touch with my office by emailing [email protected] .”

Tomorrow, February 24, marks the anniversary of Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, the displacing of more than 7.5 million Ukrainians, with refugees arriving across Europe, the wider UK and here in Warrington.
