New restrictions planned in preparation for new Health and Wellbeing centre

0

HIGHWAY planners are proposing to change restrictions in the Town Hill area of town, including the removal of taxi ranks, as part of carriageway resurfacing works.

The proposals are part of considerations for a new Health and Well Being centre on nearby Horsemarket Street.

Warrington Borough Council is proposing to renew the carriageway surfaces of Town Hill and Hill Street and consideration is being given to the accessibility requirements for the area which will potentially include a new public sector Health and Wellbeing Hub.
On-street parking in the area is currently controlled through a variety of parking and loading restrictions, loading bays, disabled parking bays and taxi ranks.
The council says it has has been advised that the taxi ranks located in Town Hill are no longer required.
In its role as Local Highway Authority, the council has the powers to introduce restrictions of various kinds on the highway to aid in fulfilling its obligation to manage the network.
The proposed measures provide parking for Blue Badge Holders, businesses to load and unload and areas where waiting, loading and unloading are prohibited to enable vehicles to negotiate the area.
