WARRINGTON North MP Charlotte Nichols has congratulated Callands County Primary School on achieving a prestigious Online Safety Mark award.

The national Online Safety Mark is only awarded to those schools that have demonstrated best practice in safeguarding their children online,

Ms Nichols said: “I would like to congratulate Callands Community Primary School on their achievement in receiving the nationally recognised Online Safety Mark. The rigorous yet rewarding Online Safety Mark, awarded by the charity SWGfL, recognises only those schools who have demonstrated the very best practice in protecting children online. “The school is one of only 400 across the UK who have received this coveted recognition and I’m thrilled that they have been rewarded for their work. I hope Callands Community Primary School can act as an example for other schools in the region looking to improve their online safety provision.”

The prestigious Online Safety Mark is only awarded to those schools that have demonstrated best practice in safeguarding their children online, through achieving the national benchmark levels in 360 Degree Safe.
Schools that can show good practice in their e-safety policy and procedures can apply for the Online Safety Mark. 360 Degree Safe is used by 15,000 schools across the UK and since its release in 2009 only 400 schools have received the award.

The award is externally awarded by SWGfL assessors who evidence the performance of their broader online safety policy, measures and education not just for children but also for staff as well as parents, to ensure that these users of digital technologies can be safe online – whether they are in school, in their homes or out and about using mobile devices.

UK Safer Internet Centre partner SWGfL created and maintain the award winning 360 Degree Safe tool first established in 2009 and supports over 15,000 schools today.
