A new 20mph speed limit as part of traffic calming measures on Hallfields Road, Orford, Warrington is legally set to come into force tomorrow, Monday, although no new signage is yet in place.

Warrington Borough Council’s legal public notice published earlier this week states the 20mph limit will be effective from Monday, February 20.

But as of today, no signage has been put in place. The traffic measures are part of the council’s controversial Central6 Low Traffic Neighborhood schemes.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers on 15th February 2023. The effect of the Order is to introduce a 20 miles per hour speed limit on Hallfields Road for its entire length.
The Order will be effective from 20th February 2023.
Deposited documents may be viewed on-line at https://www.warrington.gov.uk/permanent-traffic-regulation-orders or Contact Warrington, 1 Time Square, Warrington, WA1 2NT between 9am & 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks from 15th February 2023, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

Up to five weeks of road closures as work set to start on Orford Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme
