A WARRINGTON psychology student has received a £2,700 Educational Award from one of the UK’s oldest and largest friendly societies, the Oddfellows.

Amelia Davies is now on a three-year psychology course at Liverpool John Moores University – and the grant is awarded to no more than three society members each year and is designed to help students get the most out of their time at university.

The 21-year-old said: “I am extremely grateful that the Oddfellows chose me for this award, as it will be a huge help towards my commute to and from university. I hope that my studies lead me to become a research psychologist specialising in health psychology after a masters and hopefully a PhD.
“I chose to study psychology as I am fascinated by the subject, especially health psychology, and I am interested in the link between mind and body and their interaction with each other.”
Sheila Kendall, secretary for the Oddfellows’ South East Lancashire Branch, of which Amelia is a member, said: “Being able to support Amelia on her journey is a huge honour, and we couldn’t be more proud of her achievements so far.”
