Traffic ban to improve safety on residential road at Orford

HIGHWAY planners are set to ban motor vehicles from a stretch of road at Orford to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Warrington Borough Council is planning to introduce a prohibition of motor vehicles on a small stretch of Sandy Lane.
The aim is to prevent through traffic as is the existing situation which has been in place for many years. The proposed scheme improves access for pedestrians and cyclists.

1)To prohibit any Motor Vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this Notice, Pedal Cycles will be permitted.
SCHEDULE – PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES
Sandy Lane – From a point approximately 75 metres south east of the south easternmost junction with The Coppins for a distance of 2 metres in a south easterly direction.

Notice is hereby given that the Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit Motor Vehicles from proceeding along Sandy Lane from a point approximately 75 metres south east of the south easternmost junction with The Coppins for a distance of 2 metres in a south easterly direction, Pedal Cycles and Invalid Carriages will be permitted.

All representations both in support or objecting to the proposals must be in writing either by post or delivered by hand to Legal Services, East Annexe, Town Hall, Sankey Street, Warrington, WA1 1UH or emailed to [email protected] by 16th February 2023 and all objections must specify the grounds on which they are made. Please note that all representations received may be considered in public by the Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
