Plan to extend town centre drinking establishment approved

PLANS to expand a Warrington town centre drinking establishment have been approved by planners.

The proposals involved extending the existing Firkin Tap premises on Buttermarket Street into the neighbourng former vacant Scoota Mart premises.

The proposed change of use would convert two units into one. The ground floor of 32-34 Buttermarket Street was previously occupied as one larger unit prior to its subdivision granted under a previous application.
Therefore, it was considered that in principle, the merging of the two units would be acceptable.

Although it would result in the loss of a retail unit Warrington Borough Council’s Core Strategy that development should create job growth would be supported. It would also contribute to the nighttime economy.
There were no objections to the plan.
