A WARRINGTON hotel evacuated last night due to a roof fire remains open for business today.
Shortly before 7pm last night fire crews from Warrington and Penketh were called to the Patten Arms Hotel on Parker Street, following reports of a fire on the roof.
The hotel was evacuated as the crews tackled the fire.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out the fire on the roof of the property and a thermal imaging camera to check there were no further hotspots. They were at the scene for around three hours.
Some of the residents were rehomed by the local authority housing and others were able to return to the safe areas of the hotel.
It’s believed the fire was caused by an ember following work in the roof space. Half of the building remains open today and with minimal damage reported, the hotel is expected to be fully open soon.
