Plans approved for dog grooming salon at rear of garage

PLANNERS have approved proposals for a dog grooming salon at the rear of a domestic house garage at Winwick, Warrington.

The proposal involves the change of use of the rear part of the garage of a detached domestic garage into a dog grooming salon at premises on Austen Drive, Winwick, Warrington.

The applicant submitted a Noise Management Plan (NMP) that illustrated the layout and equipment to be used and stated that all new customers would be provided with a terms and conditions for the business; this would clearly state:
A ‘vocal’ dog will need to be assessed before offering an appointment.
All dogs should be leashed on arrival and collection and noise and barking discouraged.
Excessive and persistent patterns of noise and barking behaviour will be refused appointments.
Dropping off and collecting vehicles are to park on the driveway.
Salon Door to be kept closed at all times
Grooming 1-1 and appointments spaced to avoid meeting conflicts

There had been one objection on the grounds of additional traffic affecting all 9 houses in the cul de sac. The cul de sac turning space was well-used and should not be blocked.
The garage runs along a boundary, with concerns about excessive noise (dryers, barking dogs, traffic).
But planners approved the application with conditions not to be open to customers except between the hours of 09.00 and 17.00 on Mondays to Saturdays and not at anytime on Sundays, Bank or Public Holidays.

  1. HOPEFULLY 1 of the planners will have this next door to them 1 day and see how they like it.for only 1 person to object dont the neighbours realise the value of their house be worth less now?

  2. looks extremely tight driveway between the 2 properties for a soon busy driveway.if i was next door id be checking the house brickwork regularly in case of any damage by cars these days being so wide!
