WESTVALE House care home in Warrington recently presented East Liverpool Riding School for the Disabled with a cheque for £800.

The grant has been awarded by Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, a charity that helps older people and adults with a disability or mental health problems across England, Scotland and Wales by offering grants to help people connect or re-connect with others in their local community.
The care home welcomed members of the riding group to a small gathering in the home’s conservatory to receive the cheque and celebrate being awarded the grant. It was our pleasure to meet with Elaine and Pauline over afternoon tea and cake where we learned about the services E.L.R.S provide.  The money donated is to go towards a new table to enable services users to have lunch with the ponies.
Jackie Bray, General Manager at Westvale House care home, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities. One of our residents is a keen horse rider and was really impressed with what the riding school offered to disabled children and adults and has had a lovely afternoon.  A few residents have also expressed wishes to maybe visit the school and learn more about them.
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

Westvale House care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Westvale House care home provides general nursing care and residential care for both short and long terms stays.  Respite care is pre-bookable up to one year in advance.
