Teenage boy arrested after stolen car crashed into lamppost during police helicopter pursuit

A 15-year-old boy was arrested after a suspected stolen car crashed into a lamppost at Chapelford on Saturday evening, following a pursuit involving the police helicopter.

The youngster, from the Yorkshire area, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers on regular patrol were made aware of a suspected stolen car travelling on the A49 heading towards Warrington at around 7pm on Saturday, January 7.
“After failing to stop, a pursuit was declared and officers were supported by the police helicopter.
“The vehicle came to a stop after a collision with a lamppost on Arizona Crescent and a male fled the vehicle.
“Officers arrested a 15-year-old male, from Wakefield, on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.
“He has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.”
