TWO fire crews were called out to tackle a canal boat fire at the Fiddlers Ferry Marina at Penketh.

Shortly before 12.30 pm crews from Penketh and Widnes were called to reports of a canal boat on fire on the canal off Station Road.

A canal boat was well alight at Fiddlers Ferry Marina. Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, along with a positive-pressure ventilation fan.
A full search of the boat was undertaken and all persons were accounted for.
It’s understood extensive renovation works had recently been undertaken on the boat.
