THREE men were arrested and drugs seized as part of Operation Medusa in Warrington as Cheshire Constabulary joined forces with Merseyside Police to tackle cross-border drug activity and child criminal exploitation (CCE).
Last Friday 9 December, officers targeted the streets of Warrington, working to disrupt and deter criminal activity in the town centre and main transport routes across the border.
This action saw three men arrested for drug offences, a number of traffic offence reports issued and a quantity of drugs seized.
The arrests included:-
•A 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
•A 38-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
•A 27-year-old arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Ian Bingley, of Warrington Proactive Team, said: “By having officers on both sides of the border as part of the operation we can target and eliminate those who are intent on dealing drugs in our communities.
“Organised Crime Groups look to exploit the most vulnerable in our society and work across borders to distribute illegal drugs that bring down local communities.
“With Operation Medusa, we are turning the tide on this – we are making our towns a safer place to live by picking off these criminals and bringing them to justice.
“We will continue with our fight against illegal drugs in the community and we will do all we can to make our area a hostile place for criminals.”
