Two arrested for assault on emergency worker as police urge thief to return stolen hat

TWO males were arrested in Warrington town centre during the early hours of this morning following an assault on an emergency worker.

The two males have since been charged with a public order offence and assault on an emergency worker following the incident on Barbauld Street.

As an officer was trying to effect an arrest it is alleged the males decided to assault the officer in an attempt to free the detained male.

Both have spent the night in Runcorn Custody suite and will be attending at court in the new year.

A passer-by that also decided to steal the officer’s hat that was knocked off during the incident is advised to return it to the nearest police station before they receive a knock at the door…………….CCTV captures everything!
