Fire crew help rescue dog trapped in frozen canal

A fire crew from Warrington helped rescue a dog that had become trapped in the frozen Sankey Canal at Bewsey Farm Close, Warrington.

The dog that had gone through ice and into water, yesterday, Saturday at around 9.30 am.
On arrival, the dog has its front paws on the ice and his body in the water so crews wearing swift water rescue gear and using equipment rescued the dog and reunited it with its owner.

Please never be tempted to let your dog go on or near frozen lakes, rivers or ponds. Fire & Safety advice is to keep dogs on leads when walking near frozen water and never be tempted to go in after it, if it gets into trouble.
