Flat evacuated as three fire crew tackle kitchen fire

A flat was evacuated as three fire crews tackled a kitchen fire at a property in Warrington town centre, where one casualty suffered from smoke inhalation.

At 14:07 yesterday, crews from Warrington, Lymm and Birchwood attended the incident on Buttermarket Street, Warrington

Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish a fire in the kitchen of a flat on the first floor of a building. The crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and a large fan to remove smoke from the property.

A full evacuation took place and everyone was accounted for. Paramedics attended to help one casualty suffering from smoke inhalation and crews were detained at the incident for one and a half hours.
An investigation to establish the cause will take place at this incident.

Earlier in the day, crews from 11:25 crews from Warrington and Lymm where called to a property on Marlfield Road, Grappenhall. where there was smoke logging in a bungalow. The smoke is believed to have been caused by food being left unattended on the kitchen hob. Crews used a large fan to clear the smoke and offered safety advice.
