Up to eight weeks of town centre road closures for carriageway resurfacing

UP to eight weeks of evening road closures are looming around Warrington town centre in the new year to allow carriageway resurfacing.

The closures will be from 7 pm to 1 am to avoid major traffic disruption.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway as follows: Parker Street from its junction with Sankey Street/Liverpool Road to its junction with Wilson Patten Street; Crosfield Street from its junction with Parker Street to its junction with Bankside; Sankey Street from its junction with Parker Street to its junction with Arpley Street; Liverpool Road from its junction with Parker Street to its junction with Factory Lane; Wilson Patten Street from its junction with Parker Street to its junction with Slutchers Lane; Slutchers Lane from its junction with Wilson Patten Street for 100 metres.

Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (Bank Quay General Improvement Area) (Traffic Regulation) Order, 1977 in so far as it relates to the One Ways in Schedule II as follows: Thynne Street – West to East; White Street – East to West; Dixon Street (White Street to passage north of No 5 Dixon Street) – South to North.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (Centre Park Link) (Various Moving Restrictions) Order 2020 in so far as it relates to Article 12 and the One Way on Arpley Street.
The Order will be effective from 15th January 2023 for 8 weeks, between 7pm and 1am, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
The alternative route will be via Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Cockhedge Green, Brick Street, Fennel Street, Mersey Street and vice versa.
The restrictions are required for carriageway resurfacing.
