THREE people were taken to hospital following a collision on the M62 near Birchwood, earlier this morning which resulted in the eastbound carriageway being closed with five miles of queues.
The road was closed between junction 10 for Croft and 11 for Birchwood at 7.30am this morning.
A complete closure remained in place for half an hour and didn’t fully re-open until 11am, resulting in an estimated five-miles of queues.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 7.26am on Monday 26 November police were called to reports of a collision on the M62 eastbound between junction 10 and 11.
“Officers attended and found that a van had collided with a lamp post. The driver of the van was treated by paramedics. There was also a second collision nearby involving a VW Gold and a Peugeot 308.”
North West Ambulance Service confirmed three patients were taken to hospital while crews discharged another two patients at the scene.
