Fire crews help rescue trapped driver after collision on M56

THREE fire crews were involved in a rescue operation after a driver was trapped following a collision on the M56 near Lymm during the early hours of this morning.

At 05:49 crews from Warrington, Lymm and Runcorn were called to reports of a collision on the M56 eastbound slip road between junctions nine and 10 near the Lymm interchange.

A driver was physically trapped in a vehicle following a road traffic collision.
Firefighters had to remove a tree stump to be able to get to the driver’s side door to remove it. The vehicle was stabilised as this work was going on.
The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was assessed by paramedics.
