Fire crews tackle People Carrier blaze on M62 at Winwick

THREE fires crews were called out earlier today, Thursday, following reports of a people carrier well alight on the M62 at Winwick.

The incident was at 11.25 am on the M62 Westbound with crews from, Warrington, Birchwood and Winsford attending at the scene.

The vehicle was close to junction 10 and had a small fuel spillage. The motorway remained closed while crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. All persons were accounted for. Crews remained at the scene to monitor the vehicle along with the highways agency that dealt with the fuel spillage.
The motorway has now been reopened.
