Phone mast plan refused for third time in two years

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have turned down an application for permission for a 15m high phone mast – the third similar application from the same applicant on the same site in two years.

Twelve residents had objected to the scheme in Longwood Road Appleton, along with local borough councillors and Appleton Parish Council.
The scheme was submitted by CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd on a grass verge on the west side of Longwood Road, opposite Woodstock Gardens.

Warrington Borough Council planning officers, using delegated powers, refused the application because the site was close to a pedestrian crossing, impacting on highway safety and because insufficient information had been provided in connection with nearby protected trees.
They said virtually identical previous applications from the same applicant, involving the same site, had been refused in August and October last year.
No attempt had been made to address the reasons for objections to the previous applications.
