A NEW branch of Unify Credit Union has opened in Warrington’s Golden Square Shopping Centre.

The Mayor, Cllr Jean Flaherty, officially opened the branch which will make it easier for local residents to join, deposit money into their savings, and apply for loans.
Initially opening on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10am to 2 pm, the branch is inside the Warrington Foodbank Information Centre. If the new service proves popular, the opening hours will be extended.
The opening ceremony was attended volunteers who have helped people access credit unions in Warrington over many years.
Warrington Credit Union merged with Unify Credit Union last year. Unify has been established for more than 30 years and provides low-cost financial services across Warrington, Wigan, Leigh, Chorley, South Ribble, and Skelmersdale.

Unify is a savings and loans co-operative owned and run by its members and profits made from loans are shared among savers as an annual dividend. In the last year alone, Unify has helped members with more than £5million in small affordable loans.
Unify chief executive Angela Fishwick said “We’re delighted to expand our services into Warrington with the opening of our fifth branch. With so many banks and post offices withdrawing from communities we want to make sure people can still access the face-to-face support they want when managing their money. Come and see us and see what your credit union can do for you.”
