FOUR fire crews were involved in an operation to rescue a cormorant bird trapped in brambles on the banks of the River Mersey off Weir Lane, Woolston.
At 14:30 yesterday, Tuesday, vehicles from Warrington, Lymm, Birchwood and Penketh attended at the scene to rescue a cormorant that was tangled in brambles.
Two swift water rescue technicians used a tethered raft to reach the bird and handed it to the care of an RSPCA officer.
Its understood the bird got into difficulties after getting caught up in fishing line in brambles.
