St Rocco’s Hospice bidding to smash Christmas Tree recycling record

AFTER raising a record-breaking £44,000 recycling 2,700 Christmas trees across Warrington, St Rocco’s Hospice is looking for local businesses to join their collection team.

On Saturday, January 14, after your Christmas tree has lit up your home over the festive season, St Rocco’s Hospice will bring you the gift of recycling! Along with the invaluable support of Warrington businesses, your tree will be collected and recycled in return for a donation towards patient care.

Last year, the team of volunteers collected 2700 trees from across Warrington raising £44,000 to help St Rocco’s Hospice care for people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. This year they are hoping to smash that record and they need your help!

St Rocco’s have said a huge thank you to the following companies who have already pledged their support: Warrington Borough Council, BT Skips, Warrington Electrical Supplies, Omega Access North, Bmech, Sandstone Supplies, Quickline Couriers, Beesley & Fieldes, Beechwood Industries, SP Energy Networks, S Xpress Transport, Taylored Signs, iSupply Group, HMS and Urban Building Projects.

Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and community, Cllr Tony Higgins, said: “The annual Christmas tree collection service is a fantastic, green initiative which raises vital funds for St Rocco’s. It’s very well supported each year, and I’m looking forward to the 2023 collection being another big success.”
St Rocco’s Hospice is a local charity, and they rely on the generosity of the Warrington community for most of their funding. The rising cost of living is putting further pressure on the hospice meaning your donations and support are more important than ever to help St Rocco’s continue its care.

Can your company spare some time, a vehicle or even a chipper? If the answer is yes, please contact Charlotte by emailing [email protected] or calling 01925 575780 and help your local hospice reach their target of 3,000 tree collections this year.

The Christmas Tree Collection initiative covers Warrington postcodes (WA1 to WA5 and WA13) and will take place a week later than usual to give residents more time to register.
Bookings are now open on St Rocco’s Hospice website www.stroccos.org.uk until 11th January 2023.
