A drink driver who blamed fog after crashing her car in Warrington last night was found to be more than double the limit.

The woman was arrested after police attended reports of a one-vehicle road-traffic collision on Whittle Avenue.

The driver had told officers that the fog had obscured her vision, paired with damp road conditions and the fact the driver was over double the legal limit for alcohol, led to a crash, police say the driver was lucky to walk away from.

The female has been arrested for drink driving and will appear in court at a later date.
