WARRINGTON Town registered a fourth successive league win as they won 3-1 away at Guiseley.
Matty McDonald’s injury time goal sealed the three points after Lewis Whitham had pulled one back in the 89th minute.
First half goals from Stefan Mols and Jay Harris put Mark Beesley’s side in control to continue their fine recent run of form.
It was a first visit to Guiseley for nearly 30 years for the Yellows and the first half was an entertaining affair with both sides having their moments.
The first chance fell for Harris, who had a volley deflected just over the bar on 12 minutes.
An unfortunate slip by ‘keeper Tony Thompson with the ball at his feet almost gifted Guiseley a goal, with Barnsley loanee Keegan Hartley nipping in to pinch the ball, only to have Thompson scramble back and get the ball away.
Thompson had to tip over from an overhit George Smith cross that nearly crept in at the far post, and then top scorer Jake Cassidy guided a header wide from Ethen Vaughan’s cross.
But it was the Yellows who took the lead just after the half hour mark. Connor Woods, who signed an extension to his loan deal earlier this week, held the ball up ahead of Danny Ellis and it bounced up off a defender and all of a sudden Mols was through. The Spanish midfielder stood up Jameel Ible and then guided a left-foot shot in to the far corner.
The lead was doubled six minutes later when Williams’ free-kick dropped in the box for Harris and he hit a low drive home from 14 yards.
The hosts had work to do after the break and they nearly fell three behind when Mols’ free-kick from nearly 30 yards hit the post.
The Yellows naturally retreated further back as the game went on and that enabled Guiseley to create a few chances.
Smith went a long way down the left and was denied at the near post and then the excellent Hannigan got back to make a superb clearance off the line after substitute Adam Haw had rounded Thompson.
It looked like the game would be seen out relatively comfortably, until debutant Lewis Whitham squeezed a shot in at the near post with 90 seconds left of normal time, meaning the Yellows needed to hang on for four minutes of added time.
They managed to do enough and then in the final minute of the four, pressure by Williams forced an error and McDonald found himself through on goal, keeping his cool to beat Callum Hiddlestone.
The Yellows are away again on Tuesday night against Whitby Town, before four successive home games starting next week against Marske United.
