Firefighters called to suspected arson at derelict cottage and bonfire incidents

TWO fire crews were called out to a suspected arson incident at a derelict cottage at Cinnamon Brow, Warrington, while crews were also called out to bonfire incidents.

At 16:13 crews from Birchwood and Warrington attended at the property on Perth Close, to tackle a small fire on the first floor of a disused building. Wearing breathing apparatus they used a hose reel water jet and thermal imaging camera.

Then shortly after 19:00 afire engine from Birchwood was sent to check out a bonfire at Vulcan Close, Warrington. They dampened surrounding trees, but were satisfied to let it continue burning and gave some safety advice. Crews returned at 20:30 in response to another fire and again offered advice.

Then at 19:26 Birchwood’s firefighters were called to reports of two bonfires in a domestic garden on Chester Road, Stockton Heath. They gave the occupiers safety advice, but were happy to let them continue burning.

Then at 19:59 an appliance from Warrington Fire Station was called to put out a sofa that had been set alight in the open on Linnet Close, Warrington. Firefighters used a hose reel water jet.
