ANTI-POVERTY campaigner Trish Cockayne has been selected by Labour for the Rixton and Woolston borough council by-election due to be held on November 24.

Labour opened its selection process to its Warrington members after the by-election was called following the resignation of Tory Josh Dixon due to work commitments. The process concluded earlier this week with the local party selecting Trish Cockayne, a food charity volunteer, community activist and anti-poverty campaigner from Lymm.

Commenting on her selected Trish said: “I think residents will be able to see what the Tories are trying to do, they can’t distance themselves from the shambolic past few months.
“Whether they are in Westminster or Warrington, the Tories are all the same. They gambled with the economy and now working people are paying the price for the crisis created in Downing Street.
“The Tories are all responsible for this mess, they backed Truss and wrecked the economy.
“Volunteering for a local food charity I see first-hand the challenges our communities face.

“12 years of brutal Tory austerity has damaged our town; foodbank use has skyrocketed and energy bills have gone through the roof.
“Local councillors are on the front line, protecting our most vulnerable. If elected, I promise to stand up to injustice and continue to put our communities at the heart of my work.
“Rixton and Woolston residents have told me what they are passionate about. They want anti-social behaviour tackled, safer pavements to walk on and absolutely NO FRACKING.
“They want a candidate who will listen to them and represent them. They don’t want the same old Tory party making promises they never keep.
“Rixton and Woolston is a fantastic community, with incredible residents. In the coming weeks I will be out meeting as many people as possible.
“If anybody would like to raise any concerns, or would like a chat, please get in touch!”

  1. She previously stood for election in Lymm South as any search engine will tell you. As is her right she has chosen to obscure her address on the Nomination paper.
