RUGBY League history was in the making at Warrington’s Victoria Park yesterday, Sunday, as the first-ever PDRL World Cup kicked off in front of a packed crowd, as England triumphed 58-6 over Australia!

In the opening game there was late drama as Wales clinched the opening game of the PDRL RLWC coming from behind to beat New Zealand 28-26.

Then a phenomenal performance from England saw a commanding 58-6 victory over an Australian team featuring Warrington favourite, comedian Adam Hills, from the Last Leg.

PDRL is a full-contact version of the game, adapted for participants with a physical disability who want to access a running version of Rugby League. England’s 20-player squad is drawn from foundations linked to five Super League clubs: Castleford Tigers; Leeds Rhinos; Wakefield Trinity; Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors.

PDRL was initially developed in Australia, arriving in England in 2018 when Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos played the first-ever game of PDRL in the northern hemisphere.

Fixtures are all at Victoria Park, Warrington, other than the final which will take place at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
