Council car parking charges set to rise – although free concessions remain at Lymm and Stockton Heath

0

COUNCIL car parking charges are set to rise across Warrington – although existing free concessions will remain at Lymm and Stockton Heath.

Charges will increase on average by 20 per cent on most car parks, although an  increase of 50 per cent is being imposed on the public car park next to Warrington town hall.

The increases follow increased management costs.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “Over the last few years, the costs to manage and operate car parks have increased considerably. A review has been undertaken and prices have been kept in line with the increase in Consumer Price Index (CPI).

“However, as part of these proposals, we recognise that it’s important to retain the charging hours and enhancements that are already in place. The first hour will remain free in Lymm car parks, and free parking after 3pm at The Forge car park in Stockton Heath still applies.”
The new charges are expected to come into force next month.
