VIDEO: A brand-new Health & Social Care Academy, has officially opened its doors at Warrington & Vale Royal College.
A number of key stakeholders, employer partners and supporters from the voluntary sector attended to join the celebration of the amazing things to come at the facility which was officially opened by Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols.
The Health & Social Care Academy, based at Warrington campus, was established with thanks to a £1m investment from Warrington’s Town Fund and significant support from key partners including Warrington Borough Council, Warrington & Halton NHS Trust, the University of Chester, employers and many other stakeholders from voluntary sector organisations.
The college officially declared the Academy open on Monday, and students looking to join the college to study a health care, social care or childcare subject can look forward to benefiting from this outstanding facility.
Guests were welcomed to the Health & Social Care Academy where they had the chance to network with one another, before listening to Amy Yorke, the Health & Social Care Academy Business Centre Manager welcome guests with a brief presentation about the Academy and its story so far. This was followed by a few words from special guest Dave Thompson, Chief Executive at Warrington Disability Partnership, with whom the college has a strong partnership. Guests were also treated to a talk from Kelsey Siddall, Warrington & Vale Royal College HNC student, who has seen huge success during her time at the college. She delivered a heart-warming speech about her educational journey and how, with the support of the fantastic tutors and facilities at the college, she is pursuing her dream career in the health and social care sector.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: “Warrington’s Town Deal has been an important programme of work for the town over the last few years and I’m really pleased to see the Health & Social Care Academy open.
“Schemes like the Health & Social Care Academy prove that when we work in partnership we can do great things. The Academy is going to be a game-changer for Warrington and the future of our local health and social care workforce.”
The launch was a huge success and the college wishes to extend thanks to those who attended and to those who have supported the Academy since its inception through to its opening.
