A SERVER outage on Friday afternoon brought down all Warrington GP practices computer and telephone systems.
Patients were advised to attend appointments as normal but were advised to expect delays.
Engineers from Virgin Media were called out to resolve the issue as a priority while GP practices instigated business continuity plans.
A spokesperson for NHS Cheshire & Merseyside said: “An IT issue is currently affecting all GP practices in Warrington resulting in no access to computer or telephone systems.
“Practices are asking residents to attend their scheduled appointments as normal but to expect some delays. Residents are also asked to pick up non-urgent prescriptions on Monday where possible.
“Residents whose concerns are urgent are asked to use the NHS 111 services, which is available online and over the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“The IT outage is a result of a local server issue. All practices have stood up their business continuity plans and Virgin Media has been notified and engineers are working to resolve the issue as a priority.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and will update as soon as we can.”
