Warrington Wolves Women promoted and crowned champions in Shield Final

WARRINGTON Wolves Women have been crowned champions in the Shield final with a convincing 34-6 victory over Featherstone Rovers at the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens.

The victory sees the team promoted to the top tier of the competition for 2023 after an outstanding season.

Featherstone scored first to lead 0-6 after 13 minutes but it was then one-way traffic on the scoreboard as the Wolves Women took control.

Within two minutes of Rovers opening the scoring the Wire hit back as Amy Johnson crashed over with Michelle Davis converting to level the scores.
Then on 21 minutes, Dani Bound forced her way over from dummy-half for a lead they were not going to surrender.
On 27 minutes Bound went over for her second of the game with Davis converting to make it 16-6 and then on 34 minutes Emily Baggaley scored, with Davis again converting to make it 22-6 at the break.
In the second half, Lauren Roberts spun her way over and Davis converted to make it 28-6 on 54 minutes with the final score coming on 63 minutes with a 43rd try this year for Georgia Sutherland with a sensational break which Davis converted.
