Road closures for Warrington Running Festival

A number of road closures will be in place for the annual Warrington Running Festival later this month.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following:-

Temporary Prohibition of Driving (Between the hours of 5:30am and 2:00pm) on Sunday, September 25.

Entire lengths of road: Ackers Road; Bridge Foot; Bridge Street; Cantilever Bridge; Cantilever North West Approach; Cantilever South East Approach; Cantilever South West Approach; Chester Road; Church Street; Farrell Street; Grammar School Road; Grappenhall Road; Hallaway; Holmesfield Road; Howley Lane; Hunts Lane; Mersey Street; Palmyra Square North; Palmyra Square South; Rylands Street; Springfield Street; Station Road; Stockton Lane; Suez Street; Warrington Old Bridge; Warrington New Bridge; Wash Lane; Wharf Street; Winmarleigh Street.

Part lengths of road: Bold Street from Rylands Street to Bridge Foot; Church Lane from Chester Road to Broad Lane; Knutsford Road (westbound) from Hallaway to Wilderspool Causeway; Knutsford Road (westbound) from Grammar School Road to Hallaway; Knutsford Road (eastbound) from Wilderspool Causeway to Thelwall Lane; Lumb Brook Road from Chester Road to Bridge Lane; Legh Street from Sankey Street to Regent Street; Sankey Street from Crosfield Street to Bold Street; Wilderspool Causeway from Chester Road to Knutsford Road; Wilson Patten Street from Slutchers Lane to Bridge Foot.

The Order will be effective from Sunday 25th September 2022 as and when the signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the event organiser for the duration of the event. The alternative route will be via Walton Road, Chester Road, Slutchers Lane, Wilson Patten Street, Parker Street, Liverpool Road, Sankey Way, Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Manchester Road, Kingsway North, Kingsway South, Knutsford Road and vice versa. The restrictions are required to facilitate The Warrington Running Festival.
