Man arrested as police bid to trace assault victim who was knocked unconscious outside town centre bar

UPDATED: A 35-year-old man has been arrested since police launched an appeal to trace an assault victim who was knocked unconscious outside a Warrington town centre bar during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The attack took place outside the Babylon Bar on Bridge Street when a male was knocked unconscious.

Since the appeal was launched, a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and since been released under investigation.

Police are still attempting to trace the victim, who refused hospital treatment, and anyone who witnessed the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “At approximately 01:45 on Sunday morning the 4th of September a male was knocked unconscious outside of Babylon on Bridge Street. A number of members of the public offered first aid to the male prior to the police arriving.
“Police are trying to trace the male who was assaulted and anyone who witnessed the incident.
“Please call 101 if you have any information IML1358932 refers.”
