Warrington Town face FA Cup replay on Tuesday night

WARRINGTON Town will face Morpeth Town for the third time this season after they were held to a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

The Yellows twice led in the north east through Luke Duffy and Stefan Mols, but must now host the Highwaymen again on Tuesday night to see who progresses in the FA Cup.

Mark Beesley’s side beat Morpeth at home in the league on the opening day of the season.

They were without Jay Harris and Sean Williams for the trip, while Jordan Buckley was also sidelined following the knock he picked up against Nantwich on Monday.

Duffy opened the scoring on 18 minutes with a mazy run and shot from 20 yards.

Morpeth equalised on the half hour mark but Mols’ deflected shot meant the Yellows went in 2-1 to the good.

A penalty 11 minutes in to the second half gave Morpeth the chance to equalise and force a replay.

It means Warrington Town’s previously scheduled league game against Rylands is postponed and will be re-arranged.

Meanwhile, Rylands bowed of the competition at the first hurdle with a disappointing 0-4 home defeat to Hyde United.
